The Jocular Angelfish is a rare and highly sought-after dwarf angelfish prized for its striking coloration and limited natural distribution. Endemic to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean, this beautiful species features a bright yellow body contrasted by a distinctive black eye mask, vivid blue accents, and an elegant blue-edged tail. Growing to approximately 5 inches (13 cm) in length, the Jocular Angelfish is an excellent centerpiece fish for reef and fish-only aquariums alike.
Active, intelligent, and full of personality, the Jocular Angelfish quickly becomes a favorite among aquarists. It thrives in mature aquariums with abundant live rock, ample swimming space, and numerous hiding places. This species readily accepts a varied omnivorous diet consisting of marine algae, sponge-based foods, premium pellets, and frozen preparations. While generally considered one of the more reef-compatible angelfish, occasional nipping at corals and sessile invertebrates may occur. Its rarity, exceptional beauty, and engaging behavior have made the Jocular Angelfish one of the most desirable dwarf angelfish available to advanced marine hobbyists.
